We partnered with our friends at Kōloa Rum Co and Kona Rainforest Farms to bring you a first for Outpost. We took an organically grown Red Bourbon variety and aged it in an American Oak barrel that had been aging Koloa’s Kauai reserve rum for 5yrs.
This aging brought a completely unique character to the coffee

Kona Rainforest Farms sits as a beacon for sustainable organic coffee farming. Kaua‘i Reserve Cask Strength Single-Barrel Hawaiian Rum is artfully distilled and carefully aged in American White Oak Barrels for a minimum of 5 years at their distillery in Kalaheo, Kaua‘i. After the rum is drained and bottled we took the barreled placed this special lot inside the barrel for 11 days till it had absorbed the maximum amount of aromas whilst staying in an acceptable moisture range.

This is a relationship coffee from our friends owner Dawn Barnes and farm manager Lit . This is the sixth year purchasing coffee from KRF. Purchased 36lb at $37 per pound. We hope to continue working and building on our long relationship with KRF.
